Verses for the Day

Titus 3:11-14

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.

13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

We have read from verse 11 the awesome of grace of our God bestowed upon us, and it does not say some men but all men can be saved. Salvation is a gift. When we say a gift, it is not something that you buy.  It is not something that you purchase with a price. Salvation is freely given to everyone although there is a requirement for us to receive that gift.  We have to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Let Earth Receive Her King!

“Let earth receive her King!” This famous line from the song “Joy to the World” for me is the best song for today’s celebration.  A King came down to earth with a purpose in mind – to save the people from their sins. Today we expected Christmas to be celebrated by most of us through Christmas parties or what we call reunion where families (usually the whole clan) join together once a year.  From the reading on Luke 2:13-14, I have noticed that the first Christmas was not celebrated by feasting and parties, but one thing is that there is a worship included in the celebration.  Angels announced Jesus’ birth by proclaiming, “Glory to God in the Highest!”.  And the shepherd who witnessed the scene returned to the field “glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen” Luke 2:20.

What I may ask you today, could you receive the King in your heart today? Could you receive him and worship him the same thing that the shepherd did on the first Christmas?

The Birth of Jesus: The First Christmas Verses

If we are going to read the Bible, we will be able to determine the chapters which talk about the birth of Jesus.  We have Matthew 1, 2 and Luke 2. Our Christmas will never be complete without the reflection about who was really the reason why Christmas is being celebrated.  We are often focused on things that made us remember Christmas instead of focusing to the One who was born on the first Christmas day. It is not merely a celebration but a remembrance that He loved us, He lived on earth to die for our sins, to redeem us and to save us.  Let us read the passages from Matthew 1 and 2.

Psalm 23: The Good Shepherd's Verses

This chapter of the Psalms is one of the most popular among the chapters in the Bible.  Psalm 23 talks about a our good shepherd Jesus Christ, who will never leave us even in the midst of our suffering and pain on this life.  This Psalm can put a smile to the discouraged, uplift those people who feel depressed and can secure those who are afraid of walking through the road of life.  As the Psalm says. "though I walk through the valley of shadow of death, I will fear no evil".  Moreover, at the beginning of the Psalm is the beautiful passage expressing contentment, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want" God will never leave us, if all we have is God, we have all we need.
